Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
