"We're going to look at the political movement of Donald Trump and see how this can be replicated in Britain," the former PM stated. "Our guests will include the leading lights of the Make America Great Again campaign."

Before the series premiere, there was a strong advocate. "This represents the dawn of a sort of political shift," stated the controversial US journalist. His Just the News platform will publish the ex-PM's new podcasts.

Building Connections in the Maga Media Ecosystem

Compatriot supporters, featuring a advisor linked to Reform UK, assisted in her launch the Truss's program. The setup is professional, if somewhat rudimentary. The show has attracted a subscriber base of 10k in her first week and her premiere achieved tens of thousands of views across the same period.

This represents a small opening, but in partnering with John Solomon, the former PM is being pushed into a well-developed right-wing media network producing and amplifying Make America Great Again themes. Central preoccupations include alleged censorship by the established press and a desire to remove a so-called administrative state – a force that the ex-PM holds responsible for the rapid conclusion of her calamitous premiership.

"Solomon's outlet is not well-known outside of the pro-Trump media sphere, but it does have influence there, mostly due to its founder, who provides analysis on pro-Trump shows like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with the former president," commented Professor Alex Hinton, who has extensively researched the Maga movement.

A Contentious Ally

Truss's attempt to bring the pro-Trump media model to the UK has drawn her nearer to divisive personalities such as the journalist.

He founded Just the News in the wake of criticism after he was accused of promoting false stories about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in the Eastern European nation, as well as controversial stories about ex-ambassador to Ukraine.

These allegations were amplified across the pro-Trump media, with he serving as a frequent visitor on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News program. Trump himself promoted Solomon's reporting.

The journalist published the reports about Ukraine in a series of columns for the publication the Hill, where he was re-designated as an opinion writer after colleagues complained regarding his reporting. His narratives were key in Trump's demand for the Ukrainians to investigate Hunter Biden and his father in 2019. Those demands culminated in impeachment charges against Trump. Not long after he exited the newspaper in autumn 2019, the outlet announced it was performing a review of his columns about Ukrainian matters. By partnering with the journalist and his outlet, she has become a minor player in a much wider network of pro-Trump platforms that routinely amplify each other's content.

His personal podcast and Real America's Voice show have repeatedly hosted figures such as commentator Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose arguments against the US Agency for International Development was referenced by the tech billionaire as reasoning behind dismantling the government body.

An International Strategy

Although Truss's stilted style and political travails have been mocked within the UK, some US observers do not dismiss her attempts to revamp her image as a local version of the Make America Great Again press.

"One must regard folks like that seriously, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," stated Rob Flaherty, who served in the Biden White House.

"Observers witnessed how in the recent campaign the former president used that alternative press to get his message out. Without a doubt that ecosystem spreads and shapes discourse abroad. It seems quite apparent to me that the conditions in the UK are comparable to what permitted this parallel press sphere to flourish in America."

a political theory expert, said the online conservative ecosystem was already making its presence felt in the United Kingdom.

"Digital media is borderless," he stated. "There exists a sort of environment within which stuff flows – at times appearing in harsh versions and other times more moderately – but which is networked."

Professor Hinton said the rise of the online right in the United Kingdom recently meant the "potential to have a larger effect is significant."
