It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
